Deepak builds ammonium nitrate plant near Mumbai

INDIA methanol-to-fertiliser major Deepak Fertilisers and Petrochemical Corp (DFPC) is building a 1,00,000 tonne/year ammonium nitrate (AN) plant at Taloja near Mumbai in Maharashtra.


The project, which is slated to be commissioned in September or October 2002, will utilise technology licensed from Grande Paroisse of France. DFPC will import ammonia feedstock.


The company is also constructing ammonia storage facilities at Nhava Sheva port near Mumbai.

DFPC at present operates a 36,000 tonne/year AN plant at its gas-based chemical complex at Taloja.


The complex also has facilities to Produce 1,00,000 tonne/year of ammonia, 1,00,000 tonne/year of methanol, 1,98,000 tonne/year of dilute nitric acid and 2,30,000 tonne/year of nitro phosphate fertiliser.
